Newsboys hat || Crochet Spree

Wednesday, February 04, 2015

Every once in a while I just get this feeling..and I just have to make something. Then my friend sent me a link to this awesome website! Here is the pattern. I changed it a little, but that is basically it. :D I also made finger-less mitts! :) Now I can take more photos outside. :) I used my chunky yarn and a huge hook.. it didn't take that long and was fun to work with big yarn! :)

Lately I have been listening to a lot of music, and I've discovered my favorite is Speak Life my Tobymac. It's just so catchy and the words are awesome! :)

Have you ever made a newsboys hat?
                                                                                                  Do you like Speak Life?

  1. I haven't made a newsboys hat, but since, for dance class, my entire class is dressing up like the Newsboys from the Strike of 1899. :)

    1. It was really fun to make with the bulky yarn. I love working with soft yarns, because..sometimes when I go crazy and go really fast I get cut on the ruff yarn... :P It hurts! ooh, neat! :)

  2. Those look amazing! I must try these. I'm not very good at crocheting yet, but I love playing around with wool!

    1. Thank's Sophie! One thing, I did two less rows on the hat, otherwise it would have been too big for me personally and I cut down two stitches on the rim. I had to rip it out quite a few times. Soft yarn is so much better to crochet with! :)

    2. Thanks so much for the tips! I'll have to get some more wool now.

    1. It's just so..light feeling! I like listening to it while doing my math. ;) Thanks! I think those things are really the only things that I would really ever wear in public.. :) Actually I crocheted them, which in my opinion is MUCH better! :) Do you crochet or knit?

    2. Actually I don't do either. I tried to learn, but since I'm left handed it made it hard, especially since my grandma who was teaching me is right handed! My brother and I are the only lefties!

    3. Oh, yeah that must be hard..I know some people that do it though. :) Just don't give up! :) Maybe you can find someone else who is left handed that can teach you. :)

    1. Really? Neat! Well, let me tell you don't give up! haha, when I started (when I was light 8...) I thought you had to sew all the chains together...let's just say I've improved.. ;) That is so neat! My mom and sister kind of helped me, but I just kind of self taught myself. Neat! There are so many things you can make! It's endless, if you get an idea you can pretty much make it! :)

  15. Wow, great job! I recently finished a purse that I had made out of homespun yarn. I had to put a fabric lining in it so stuff wouldn't fall out the cracks : P I've found when working with yarn it's best to do that, it helps the purse stay in it's original shape.
Oh, I love Newsboys music! I've just recently started to listen to TobyMac, and so far I really like him as well.

    1. Thanks, Abigail! :D Oh wow, homespun? That sounds so neat! I've done that before, it can be really cute when you use a similar color to your yarn. It's also nicer to crochet tighter, or even use thicker yarn, it just works better. :) Neat! I'm listening to his song, Me Without You right now. :D It really like it. What ones have you listened to so far? I also love Speak Life. :D

    2. Yes, I know what you mean, sometimes I crochet tighter, but other times I like to crochet loosely because it changes the look of things :) But tighter usually is more practical :P
So far my favorite songs of TobyMac are "Speak Life" and a song featuring him by Jamie Grace called "Hold Me". I'm sure I'll have more favorites soon, I just recently began listening to him, which is why I only have two :)

    3. Yeah, it does a lot. Also what size hook you use, and yarn..you learn more things once you've crocheted more. ;) Do you use patterns, or just on your own? I do both..kind of a mix sometimes. :)
I agree! I just LOVE it! hm, I don't think I've ever heard that one. I'll have to look at it. Well, my favorites are:
Speak life, steal my show, Me Without You, City on Our Knees, by TobyMac and Hello my Name is, and Forgiveness (Matthew west). :D

    4. I just create my own stuff, patterns are a bit difficult for me to understand ;) Ooh, I'll have to look up some of those songs! Thanks!

      Delete
    5. oh, that's neat! I like both, really depends on what I'm making. When I'm usually using a pattern, I change it anyways. ;) Your welcome! :D
