dilemma || noah's ark quilt

I haven't finished Christmas shopping yet.. *nervous chuckle* Yes, I know, I should. Really I should. oh, and I misplaced the Christmas spirit..you see, it snowed a couple times this year—then melted. (I don't love snow, but it's awesome for Christmas, and as you can imagine, it simply crushed my spirit).
For the past few days it has rained.
Yes. Rained.
See my dilemma? How can I get in the Christmas spirit, when there isn't a speck of snow..and the weather feels like March! Seriously. 50 degree weather in DECEMBER. #whatisupwiththis
People, last year—we were in the -20 degrees. Yes, notice that little negative mark.

I got this baby quilt to embroider two years ago, Every winter or so I take it out and work on it a bit. (yeah, winter hobbies. lol) I picked out the "Noah's Ark", Okay, all the animals are adorbs to embroider..but the boat and rainbow are both simply too large and dreading. ;P I mean, look at that adorable elephant—and that huge boat that looks really small in the photo. It's gigantic. Believe me.
Just look at all that embroidery floss. Just look at it!
Each one of those strands is cut in half.
Then each of those halves are then separated into three sections then embroidered with. *nervous laugh* yeah, and I have to use all of that.

Oh, and look at this website to officially freak out at how soon Christmas is. *nods* Just watch the seconds tick. You're welcome.

do you have any suggestions on my dilemma?
what is the coldest is has ever gotten for you?

  1. Ahh, yes. I understand how you feel. We had 70 degrees yesterday. But Christmas music, lights and hot cocoa really help.

    1. I know! That's crazy, it's warmer than spring...and it's December! Last year it snowed on Christmas Eve but melted before the morning. Lol. It so fun to go outside at midnight and dance in the snow though. ;)

    2. Oooo, that'd be nice to go out at midnight and dance in the snow! ;)
But this Christmas eve....the weather is calling for temperatures in the 70s + rain! It's weird thinking we may be able to have the windows open on Christmas!!

  6. Yes it is! It was strange:)
Yes, they are sooooo cheesy. I have three brothers and they are like, "I know what's going to happen on this one!" We've only found a couple of ones that were nice. Old movies are always the best:)

  7. You don't have snow either??? Isn't it terrible? Here in NY (where it's supposed to be in the negatives) we're rocking 60 degree weather, and I'm getting really fed up with it. ;-) (You may have read my blog post about that...ahem.) I hope we both get lots of snow soon! And even without it, I'm trying to boost the Christmas spirit with Christmas music and Christmas movies and decorations and lights. ;-)

  8. Ugh where's the snow?!? It was in the 60s and 70s this week. But to get into the christmas mood maybe you could write a short story set in December and describe all the snow (we can hope lol) and lights and music and such:) I always find I can write myself into a mood lol.

But....my mom got stuck in the driveway last night and it took us like an hour to get her out....:p That is one of the not so great things about winter....we get snowed in all the time....:)

    1. Oh wow, 5 inches!? So far you are my only commenter who had had snow. Lol. Ugh, that's no fun, one year our neighbor had to come over with his tractor to dig out the driveway so my dad could get to work! Ah, crazy memories. ;)

  11. I've just been listening to lots of Christmas music to try and get into the Christmas spirit:D It's actually been pretty cold this week, in the single digits(celsius), but still no snow:( I think the coldest it's ever gotten was like -30 degrees Celsius:/ That was the year we had an ice storm that took the power for a week. During Christmas. We were opening presents by flashlight :P

    1. Oh wow, that's pretty cold to not have snow. It usually takes about 30 degrees or so before it snows for us. We are actually supposed to get some snow in the next few days! lol! That sounds like an adventurous Christmas..sounds fun to me. We lost power once in the summer from a tree that fell down in our yard and took out the power line. It was days before it came back on—and we lost our fav tree. It was summer, and extremely hot. We had one fan in the basement and all stayed down there blocking off the windows, trying to keep one room cool. lol! I don't remember losing power in the winter though..mostly just sometimes in nights during storms-but it normally comes back on before the morning. ;)
