the brilliant problem-solving idea || tripod

Monday, January 18, 2016

I've been keeping my eye out for a tripod online and in the stores..but they were just too expensive. Last night we stopped at a thrift shop..and guess what?! I found an awesome tripod for $4. Perfect. I have yet to play around with it, do any of you know what it to use it for, and what to not use it for?

About a month ago, I decided to rewrite my novella. (which you may have heard about). My first draft was about 33k. Pretty good, I thought, but I wish it was more. (yeah, perfectionist here. ;P)
I came up with a brilliant idea to rewrite my novella and expand the word count to make it a novel. This solved my problems! After planning some things out, I got started. Cringing a bit at the beginning, trying to figure out what to do with...this.

Then I got it. A brilliant idea. Ya know, the one to fix it up, solve my problems and add the word count that I wanted. My first draft was pretty bare, so I'm aiming for atleast  40k (though I'm expecting more) and hoping for around 50k. :D

(oh yes, and don't we all love Mrs. Olson? Little house is wonderful to watch while painting. ;) )

what good deals have you found?
Is it just me, or should there be a January/February NaNo?

    2. I love the first photo especially, Sarah! I remember taking pictures of birds at the bird feeder...but, the feeder itself was a lot younger and less worn out. Perhaps we should paint it?!

    2. Ohh....was it Harriet's Happenings? The one where she was "helping" her cousin or something with his newspaper, and she was creating a big riot and everything between the neighbours because of all the rumours she was putting in it?

    3. Actually, this one was in season nine. When Mrs. Carter came and opened a newspaper. :D That one was really hilarious though. ;)

  5. Tripods are great for long exposure photos, night time and things like fireworks or flowing water.

    1. ahh. Yes, and also for when you are really shaky taking photos of close-up objects. lol. :D I'll have to try the night time, though, my camera never gets notified of stars! Do you have any tips for that?

  13. Haha, candid shot of Mrs. Oleson. Gotta love her. ;) I love Little House so much, I've seen almost every episode. So do you have all the seasons on DVD? We have only the first two.
And no..I don't think there should be a January/February NaNo. I'm busy enough as it is right now. I don't even do the summer NaNo because I feel rushed, and I like to take my time with my stories. ;) (I'm still working on one that I started in June. ;) )
By the way, CONGRATS on finding a tripod for such a great deal! :D That's awesome! Don't you just love it when stuff like that happens?!

Well, I'm never able to to November because November is seriously the busiest month for us in ever. ;P oh awesome! I'm looking forward to the April camp. ;)
Thanks, Sunny! :D Oh, totally. It happens a lot at thrift shops, you may have to wait a while to find you item..but in the end it's worth the money you saved—and you can get some pretty unique stuff!

  14. It's so cool that you found a tripod! I remember when I found a tripod; it was the coolest feeling ever! Do you still use the Fujifilm Finepix S8630 to take pictures? If you do, then we have the same camera! :D

    1. I have yet to use it! I'm pretty excited to try it out though. I found out that tripod is usually sold for $20-40. lol! :D I do! It's pretty awesome, I've learned a lot of tips and tricks to it. Maybe someday I'll get a DSLR, but this one works really well for the price I got it for! Do you have a blog? I couldn't find a link.. :D Do you like the camera? When did you get it?

    2. Oh yes! I bought my tripod for a price of nearly $30 and when i read that you've yours for $4, I kind felt like I had been ripped off! lol! I absolutely love my camera too, all of the features are amazing and overwhelming! That's so cool! I plan on getting a DSLR in the future too, maybe a Canon or Nikon. At the moment, I don't have a blog, but I plan on making one soon. I'll let you know when I make one if you want. Yes, I love the camera (if I didn't type that already lol) I got it for Christmas and ever since then I've used it to take some pretty cool pictures! :D

    3. oh, lol! That's a horrible feeling. :P lol! I'm sure it's great though. What do you plan on using it for? Will you make videos?

Yeah, the Canon Rebels are AMAZING. I've been keeping my eyes out for good deals, but they are sooo expensive. How much did you get your camera for? I got mine for around $130. :D

oh awesome! What do you plan on making your blog about? Please tell me when you set it up! :D oh cool! I got mine a year ago now..crazy how time flies. :D It's pretty awesome. What setting are you using? I love the Program AE (P). It makes for really nice bright photos. Do you edit yours? I usually only edit to resize and make them brighter. :D It's fun to try new things, and I've learned a lot about photography with it.

  15. Yep, it's a really nice tripod! I use it for taking pictures (like landscapes and such) and I also make videos with it :D Same here!!! I've went on Amazon and other retail sites on the look for great deals for any Canon Rebels, but they're all so expensive!!! I got my camera for somewhere around $90-100. :D
I plan on making my blog about my daily life and I'm almost finished setting it up! Here's the link: http://girlwithacameraandadream.blogspot.com/ I can't wait to officially start blogging!
For my camera I use nearly all of the settings depending on what I'm taking a picture of, but my favorite settings would have to be the advanced filters, Program (AE), Scene Recognition, and Macro. (I probably have too many favorites lol) Literally the same here. I knew nothing about photography before getting this camera, but now that I do have it, I know a bit more than I used to :D

    1. Awesome! :D :D Yeah, I'll probably use it for close up objects 'cause I'm always jittery then. lol! ugh. I knowwwww. Craiglists you may be able to find a good deal..but still, you gotta be careful on there. NEVER BUY ONE OFF EBAY. I tried buying a camera on there..and he had already sold it or something and it took a month to get my money back. ;P
      Oh awesome!! I followed! :D :D
lol! Yes, I usually like to keep it on one setting. MACRO IS AMAZING. :D :D LOVE MACRO. In fact, I named my camera Macro. ;)
I knew some, because I had a little camera. Then I saved for a while and bought it online off Walmart. :D It's really awesome for how much I spent on it. Sometimes people ask me if I have a DSLR after they see my photos. It's all about the photographer really (people say), but I would still like to try out a DSLR. ;)

  16. Of course! You don't know who's selling the camera and if they're planning to trick you in any way. I honestly don't trust Ebay when it comes to expensive things, that's why I normally use Amazon. That's crazy, it shouldn't take anyone a month to get their money back! :o

Ikr, macro is amazing! That's cool, I've wanted to name my camera for a while, but I have no idea what to name it! lol! I've heard a ton of people say the exact same thing, but I also want to a DSLR along with different lenses :D

    1. ah yes. Then again, I follow this blog and she just bought one off ebay. lol! It's just about if you want to take the chance I suppose. But I really don't trust them for Electronics. ;P Oh yes, Amazon Prime is awesomeee!

lol! :D Oh, yeah, totally. I SO want a DSLR someday. I know it is the editing too..so, ya know. Mine is good for now. ;)
