prayer journal || a taste of summer

Monday, February 22, 2016

I recently got this idea to start a prayer journal...I talked a bit about it with a close friend (you know who you are, you awesome person you). I thought it would be a great way to grow deeper with the Lord. Every day I've been painting a quote, encouraging note or something on every other page. It's become my nightly routine to write my prayers before I hit off to bed.
After I write in my prayer journal I'll read a chapter or two or a book. I've really enjoyed it, it's a good way to watch yourself grow as well and be able to "get it out" sometimes. ;)

When I think of summer I think of: birds chirping, fresh air, green loveliness, t-shirts, capris, and bare feet. << pretty much my life in the summer.
I've gotten a taste of that today...*whispers* I opened my window. All the way. *shrieks in delight.* And I'm wearing shorts, my painting shorts because I was painting a little table for my room. lol.
Sadly, it's only a teasing. For the weather predicts horridness later this week. :P

Do any of you fellow photographers out there relate to the, "I can't wait for summer so I can take photos of something other than depressing brownness." Or is it just me? :P

do you have a prayer journal?
when you hear the word 'summer', what comes to mind?

    1. As was I...wishing for it so very much. ;) YES. EXACTLY MY POINT. Somehow the view always looks different in the summer...but it all looks the same in the winter. And you die to find something new to take photos of. Lol. ;)

  6. That biscuit in your first photo looks really good. :P
Nice idea for a wind-down-before-bed activity! I have a devotion book I read before bed often. I can't create or do anything arty because I get wayyyy to into it and always go to bed far later than I should. :D

  8. Ugh, I hate winter because all we get is pretty much icy bitter cold wind and rain. It is terrible!
I keep a daily journal and write in it all the time! When I look back through all of my journals from the past 5 years, sometimes I laugh, sometimes I cry. I really like writing and keeping a journal. And I love summer! :D

    1. This year has been a better winter I think, not so dreadfully bad. Every once in a while we get a "dry" winter. It's still cold though. It just doesn't get in the -20's. lol.
That's so awesome! Do you write every night? :)

  10. YES I RELATE TO THAT. My spring fever always hits very early -- this year it was late January, hehe -- so I spends most of these dreary midwinter days thinking of spring. :-) Our days have been warming up a little here (that is, the snow is melting) but it's still cold -- it's just 20 degrees now instead of -10. ;-P

Prayer journals are awesome, aren't they? I don't have a specific 'prayer' journal, but I do write prayers and letters to God in my regular journal. Like you said, it helps to 'get it out'. ;-)

Everyone waiting for the first snow: "I can't wait. Eeeek!"
Everyone after the first snow: "Go. Away."
      Ah, yes. That's a little lovelier..Currently it's 42 degrees! :D

Oh, yesss! I've made a specific one out of my stash of journals. ;P lol. Yeah, sometimes it's better just to write feelings...and also to record thoughts and such. :)

  12. '"I can't wait for summer so I can take photos of something other than depressing brownness."' for a second I thought you said depressing brownies, and if you, of all people, found brownies depressing, I'd be seriously concerned. ;)
Oh gosh your prayer journal looks sooo pretty.

  15. These are lovely. Simply lovely. It makes me want to breathe and sing.

I too write in a journal before reading a couple chapters of a book before going to bed. It first helps me to think about the day and pray to God. Then I forget about the day as I go into dreamland, escorted by the magical worlds in books.

And I think that the South may have skipped winter. Everywhere I see, I see trees blooming and the grass growing green again. But it may be a false alarm.

Is your journal a prayer journal? :) Sometimes the "couple" chapters may turn into many..."Just one more.." and.. "Oh, this chapter isn't THAT long." lol. :D Actually, I don't dream often..sadly..but when I do, they are super, super, super weird ones.

Dear me, how lovely! I had thought we had skipped it as well..sadly, today we have been dumped in a rather large amount of snow. :P Our spring was a false one, hopefully the snow won't last long! <3

    2. It is a nightly journal where I just write out what I did, what I'm thinking, what's going on in my heart, and more. But more times than not my entries ends up as prayers!

And I remember my dreams much either. I guess I should say that I go off into blessed sleep!

    3. That sounds lovely! Just a way to write out thoughts and memories to save them, I love that. :) Do you often doodle in your journal? As you see, I often paint little notes in there. <3

haha, me as well! My sister doesn't understand how I don't often dream..I don't mind just sleeping, it's quite enjoyable. ;)
