I cut my hair || when you can't sneeze

Tuesday, May 10, 2016

I cut my hair.
Like, I did it. Like, 5 INCHES OFF. It was just getting too long for summer, so I chopped it off. Don't you hate the feeling when the scissors are just about to go snip and in that moment you consider backing out. :P

Me while getting my hair cut: "It's a good thing you don't feel your hair when it's getting cut."
To which my sister replied: "Yeaahhh, that would be painful."

Oh, I didn't get another update pictures yet from when I "dyed" it with lemon juice and other stuff. Whoops.

Spring is HERE. FINALLY. The other day I walked out into a cornfield with my notebook and pen and just sat there in the middle of the field for about 20 minutes just writing a page full of description, thoughts and random things. Just listening to the wind ripple around me and the birds chirping. It's just an amazing feeling. God created such a AWE-some world. :D

The worst things about colds have to be when you feel like sneezing, but can't. And you just sit there, waiting with this weirdest look on your face. :P

have you ever regret a haircut?
do you ever feel like sneezing, but can't?

  1. The last time I cut my hair I very briefly regretted it because I felt like it was way to short and thought I looked horrible. A while later I actually ended up really loving it though.
I tried dying my hair again the other day, still not much of a difference, maybe it was just because I expected it to actually turn my hair blonde? I dunno, can't wait to see how yours turned out!
Iiiiigh, not being able to sneeze...-_-

    1. I always hate the fresh "chopped off" look after a haircut. ;) Yeah, it's much more practical. I'm not constantly tossing it out of my face and I can still do all the same hair-do's as before. :D
Maybe...mine is a bit lighter. I'll have to take a pic to show you all. :D
hahaa. Or when you practically suffocate at night so you have to sit practically up in bed all night. XD ahhh. fun.

  2. Ahh, but your hair is still pretty long! *thumbs up* Have I ever regretted a haircut? YES MA'AM. :P Back in November I asked for three inches off, and walked out with six inches off. Ugh. I was pretty upset, since my hair was pretty much too short to do anything with. But it's grown out some now, and I'm happy. :) (until the next haircut...)

YOU HAVE SPRING. :D So do we! And I'm super excited. But it gets reaaaaally hot here reaaaaally fast, so... I guess I'll have to enjoy the spring-ish-ness while I can. :) Unlike you, there is no place to just sit in the grass and write where I am. :P I'll admit, I love the East more than the desert. :P

    1. Yeah, I didn't want to go so short that I couldn't still do the same hair-do's. It's short enough so I can leave it down and it's not in the way, but it still fits in a ponytail and braids and such. UGH. That really stinks. :P

I KNOW. IT'S AMAZING. Barefoot weather is HERE. XD It stays pretty average here..but it's a bit rainy today. Oh well, more green I suppose. :D Oh, I like sitting in trees, the grass, fields...even on my window ledge. XD Anywhere there is fresh air pretty much. I think that's my favorite thing about spring, the fresh air. :D

    2. Ahh, yes. We are moving to Alabama this summer, and I can't wait for our first spring there! :)

  3. Fantastic! One of the best feelings in the world, in my mind, is cutting your hair really short after you've grown it out for years. I've donated my hair before in the past and there's nothing as freeing as the feeling of a light short bob and nothing quite as empowering as holding the ponytail of the 12 inches you just severed off! Did you cut your own hair? I've never been brave enough to cut my own hair (i usually go to a hair dresser).

The only thing that's not fun about short haircuts...is the process of growing it out again. :P

I can't wait to see your DIY dyed hair!!

    1. I do like the feeling, but I don't love the "choppy" look. It always looks better after it grows a bit. :D Oh, whoa, 12 inches?! That's a big difference. It's funny when you go to wash it, and it just isn't there. ;) I didn't cut my own hair actually, my older sister cut it for me. I don't think I could cut my own hair either.. ;)

Well, as long as you don't cut it too much it's fine if you are still able to do the same hair styles, (which I still am with this length).

Once the sun comes out again, I'll have to get some photos for you all! I think it's a bit lighter, not a major difference—but at least I didn't actually pay to buy a hair dying kit. (Though I think it would be cool to try. :D)

  4. That's fun that you got a haircut! It's so exciting to cut your hair, I think. ;) One time, I got my hair cut really short. I liked it a lot. ;) I'm happy with it out right now though! (At the length of about halfway down my back...) YES. Those times when you totally feel like you have to sneeze and then just...don't. It's weird.

    1. I cut my hair to my shoulders twice before..it didn't work too well for me because I had thinner hair then, so it looked really bad. :P That's why I did it longer this time, it's way better. :D Ugh, yes. Colds are just wonderful.. :P

  5. I've used lemon juice ;D It turns my hair reddish XD

  6. Your hair looks really nice! I recently got my hair trimmed in layers, which is definitely a change, but it's nicer. It's not as bulky....just when i'm trying to do braids it's ANNOYING because there are just like hairs sticking out EVERYWHERE. haha, i guess that's what comes with it though : )

    1. Thanks, Autumn! <3 Yeahh, I was debating with layers..then decided not. I'm glad I didn't for the reasons you listed. lol. I love french braids, and buns, so that would be a problem. ;) Plus, my hair is pretty thin, though, it has gotten thicker. I really like layers on girls with thick hair. My layers can look choppy since I have just straight hair. :P

  7. Your hair looks great!

The sneezing thing is THE WORST. Just getting over a cold so I totally feel you. Sometimes it helps if you breathe in really really deep- a tip I've learned over the weekend;)

oh, yup. Within the first ten minutes I had been awake this morning I had already sneezed 6 times. lol. It's a bit better now. lol!! I've tried that, it gives a headache after a while though. ;)

  8. I do that sneeze things literally ALL THE TIME!

Your hair looks great! I actually have been thinking about cutting my hair (a lot) but I will just be getting a trim and layers because everyone tells me that I can't cut it. And I just love long hair.

Anyway, have a good day! (don't you just love it when you accidentally rhyme?)

It's such a good feeling now! Although once you go short, for me at least I want to go shorter! :D Totally agree about the feeling with the scissors though!

    1. Whoaaaa, that must have been a BIG difference. Her hair is adorable! That is the thing..if you so short, GO SHORT. I didn't want to go TOO short, so I went middle. I didn't realize how long my hair had been until after I cut it. ;) It's way better now, it looks like I have much more volume now. :D

Also random question, I recently am updating social media, do you know how to use instagram?

      Delete
    3. Well, I don't personally use it-but I know what it is. What do you really want to know about it? :D If you go over to my sisters blog (thebarefootgal.blogspot.com), she uses Instagram and will be able to answer any questions ya have for her. :D

  10. I haven't cut my hair more than an inch or two in a couple of years. I had it one time when it was just past my shoulders, and it was layered. The person who did it is far away and I am not sure I turst most hair people to not cut it too short.

    1. I hadn't cut it found a half a year or longer..I can't quite remember. I've cut it to my shoulders a couple times..it grows back pretty fast. I know, when you go to the hair salon I've always been afraid of getting layers there. ;) A sister usually cuts it for me. :D

  11. Your hair is beautiful, Sarah! =)

I love the landscape around where you live! SO pretty!! It looks like Kansas...we drove through once and it was pretty bare, but beautiful nonetheless. =)

Is it green where you live?? We got some rain and the leaves have sprouted a lot more. :D :D

    2. Oh yes! It is VERY green! The spring flower are already mostly gone, but we have beautiful daisies, roses, and honeysuckles blooming all over the place. I love it here. <3

  12. Oh my gosh your hair is still so longggg. It looks lovely, though! :D I'm always torn between cutting it above my shoulders and having it short, or growing it out. I never have the patienceeee, though. Or the decisiveness, so it usually just stays in this awkward right-below-the-shoulders state. xD

    Super cute! <3

    1. lol!! I really haven't felt too much of a difference, except I don't have to constantly push it out of my face anymore when I lead down. IKR? It's so hard to choose a length. I really love the length you have now. You have the most adorable slight curl to yours. Mine is so flat. lol! It's not that bad, as long as I can get the volume I like. XD My hair looks a lot better from those photos now..lol. It's lost the "choppy look" and it's more blonde now. XD

The nice thing about hair is..it grows back. So, try something. ;) Except for bangs. DON'T DO BANGS. Those take FOREVER to grow. :P

  13. I have been gone for ages! Anyways, getting a haircut actually sounds kind of nice to me. I've never actually had a full-out hair cut, but instead a trim for my ends. What was it like to have really long hair? Was it tough to take care of? :)

    1. I knoww. I've been wondering where you've been! ;) Never?! I've cut it to my shoulders multiple times..hahaa. Trims are nice too. It really wasn't that bad at all. But with summer coming, I decided to get a fresh cut. It really wasn't too hard to take care of either. But I have more volume when I don't have so much hair weighing it down. Washing it really wasn't a problem, but I don't have super thick hair-so that might be different. :D
