"well, I was almost roadkill" || the secret of nano

Tuesday, July 19, 2016

Just a normal day as a photographer.

Hot. Sweaty. And sitting on a dirt road with my camera bag at my side. Come on, you totally want to do it,

right?! *silence* *crickets* okkkaayyy then.

Around where I live you get around 7 cars coming on our road a day. Yes, I'm serious. Maybe less--and if there

are more, you suspect the road is out and maybe they've been redirected them or something.

*sees distant car*

*jumps up to move into yard*

*drops lens cap*

*goes back for lens cap without second thought*

"Well, I was almost roadkill," I looked back as the car went by.

So I just reached 18k like what there are still 12 days left. xD It's going pretty good, I got out of by rut. I think. I

really have no idea what the secret of NaNo is. I mean, one month I can write 30k and the next month with no

nano--nothing. xP

well, I'm off to go finish editing the photos I took from my great-grandma's 90th birthday party. *grin*

have you ever almost been "roadkill?" lol

do you enjoy editing photos?

  1. Yep, I know life as a photographer and I have almost been roadkill before. So cool that I have found someone who relates. *high five*
Well done with getting that far in NaNo month! I salute you.

    1. *high fives* SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS. XD Thanks! Have you ever done nano???

Well, we'll have to see once I finish them all up! It's my first real event, so, I'd like to do better next time. (It's hard taking photos indoors :P ) :D :D

  2. lol yeah the life of a photographer! I literally just lost the lens cap for one of my lenses and I am not very happy. I might have to invest in a lens cap keeper thing....But being a photographer is a strange hobby, yes :) We live on a fairly busy road...it's definitely not busy like city, but it has a good amount of traffic. But the place we're moving to is a lot more quieter, plus it has a lot more woods, so I'm hoping!! Oooh, you should show us your pictures from your great-grandma's party =)

    1. UGH. That stinks. :P I always make sure I have them in my pockets or something--but if I had to loose something, it would have to be the lens cap. They aren't that expensive I believe...oh, your moving? Are you excited about it?? I LOVE WOODS. So amazing. xD

  4. The life of living in a rural area! My town is somewhat urbanized despite being surrounded by too much forest and water, and since most of the roads here are highways, it's really hard to find a street to take photos in without cars passing at 65mph. ^.^'

You can still make Camp NaNo work! Personally, I'm at 25k, and my goal was 50k-- have you ever done NOWs (Night of Writes)? It's basically what they're called. You get sleep deprived, but if you and your creative muse are willing to work through the night hours, then they're worth it.

    xoxo Morning

    1. Forests are cool. I mean, da best. ;) We have a couple clusters of forests around us, but they are a little far to walk over to.

Oh, whoa! That's awesome!! I'm at 19k and my goal is 30k for the month. :D :D I've never done that, where is it?? Sounds interesting!

    2. Well, for NOWs, they have an annual one that you have to fly to, but it's really easy just to set one up for you and a group of close friends-- it's like a sleepover, but it's all writing themed and food crazed to the tenth power! XDDD

    3. oh, craaazyy! Flying wouldn't work for me, lol, (I really can't stand planes *shiver*). Have you done it before??

    4. Go to the actual annual NaNo NOW? Nope. I want to though. I have done a regular homegrown NOW and let's just say that eating sugar just makes you pass out midsentence at one in the morning. I have been on a plane over forty times, since it's really hard to travel anywhere in and out of state without a plane, anyways. The struggles are real!

  6. Oh wow! O.O That's scary! There's this old country road we used to walk. The pavement is really nice for an old road, and there's a cliff on one side and a creek on the other. There are hardly any cars EVER and so I love to lie in the middle of the road and look up at the trees and think about life. XP So LYING IN THE ROAD IS ONE OF MY MOST FAVORITEST THINGS EVER.

    1. THAT SOUNDS SO COOL. I'd love to lie in the middle of the road (and not get dirt and rocks in my hair), it would be so cool. I think lying in a hammock with sunlight filtering through the green leaves above you while you listen to audio books has to be the coolest though..so relaxing. xD

  7. I did this the other day! I was laying down in the middle of the road trying to take a picture for my blog, and these two cars drive by really slow! It was probably really hilarious for them to see me sprawled out. Gosh, the things we go through to get photos, right?!
Stranger 1: "Hey Bob! Look at the girl laying the the middle of the road! Do you think she's dead?"
Stranger 2: "Oh look she has a camera, I think she's just one of those nerdy photographers."

    1. LOL. I know. I have often thought what people think of me when they see me doing something nuts.
And yes, I know. Freezing our fingers, burning hot sunlight, wind, rain, show, kneeling on rocks, laying across bridges, laying in the grass...it's never ending. I've done some pretty strange things before.. xD

  8. I'm jealous of the fact that you live on a dirt road. :-P Same thing with my road -- everyone who drives by either lives here or is visiting someone here, and if I don't know who it is, I get suspicious!

    1. lolol. well, it's good, and not so good. Like when it rains for days and you skid on the mud. Or get stuck in your neighbors driveway. Or the nut-so cars who zoom around your corner and wipe out your mailbox. But there also are the lovely bike rides and taking walks after going swimming.
LOL. Yes, or when a car goes by and comes back within 10 mins. You are like "WHERE COULD YOU HAVE POSSIBLY GONE IN THAT TIME."

    1. At first I read your comment as "this sounds like something I'd LIKE to do," lol. whoops. ;)

Yup. Yup. I hear you. Authors google odd things and photographers are the ones who lay on the road to get good pictures. xD

  12. Wow! Also I dont see a contact page around here but last year I hosted a "blog chain" where bloggers signed up to post about a certain topic each month. I want to start it up again in August and am brainstorming to make it amazing. I have a survey here: http://majesticgoldenrose.weebly.com/blog-chain-survey.html and I would love if you would fill it out with your ideas :P

  13. I actually WAS almost roadkill once... five years ago my sister and I were walking down a street not far from our house at night, and we almost got hit by a speeding car. It was one of the scariest things I've ever experienced. I still get chills when I cross that street.
Anyway, on a happier note, I LOVE editing pictures (though I haven't done it in forever!). Congrats to your great-grandma too, that's awesome she hit 90! :D

    1. uhhhh. yikes, That sounds super scary. :P Yeahhh, we like to stay away from the corner of our road where cars just love to swerve. :P

Editing pictures can be really fun--but also stressful when you want them to look alike. xD

  14. Um, oops. I'm glad you weren't roadkill. xD When I was little, we had a really steep driveway. One winter it completely iced over, so my sisters and I would body slide on it. :P But then one of my sisters dared me to go down the driveway on a sled... and yeah, I almost didn't make it off the street before that car came. My poor sled almost died in my place. xD

Congratulations on Camp NaNo! I finished up my word goal yesterday, but I plan to write as much as I can for the rest of the month. And yes, motivation is something I fear will disappear once Camp is over. :P

DUDE I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY, YES. And editing photography. And swooning over photography. Seriously, eeek. o.o I'm so excited, since my family is driving to Yellowstone today; lots of photo opportunities are approaching! :D

    1. YIKES. YIKES. Off note of the roadkill thing--I once went sledding down this huge hill and my hand got stuck under the sled and I went spinning and then flopped in the snow. That was a pretty scary sensation. :P

YAYYYY. That is awesome. What was your word goal? *whispers* Yes, I know. Motivation just disappears like wind...

DUDE IT'S SO AMAZING. Oh, yes. Just staring at perfectly amazing photos and sighing. THAT IS SO COOL I AM SO JEALOUS LIKE WHAT. You need a blog, girl. I want those pic. xD
