the good 'ole times || "ok. whale is an option.."

Thursday, October 20, 2016

As I've been looking back on these photos of my nine year old self I realize how fast time really is going. I mean, these are the good times. The childhood times, the hanging out with the sister times. Just, being here. Being home. Together.

Maybe I'm getting too sentimental after all these photos hahahaa I MEAN COME ON WE MADE ACTUAL VIDEOS WITH PLOTS WHEN I WAS NINE. they are so cute and embarrassing just yas

but really--it's hard to think and comprehend it. I read Little Women recently and I realized as I "watched" them grow up how much things changed. People moved away. You just didn't see each other or hang out as often. I hate it, but it's life. I hate the thought of things like family changing. I hate the thought of moving away. Or brothers and sisters moving away.
but I can't just pause life. It doesn't work that way. But I'm learning to face it, 'cuz I know God's got this.
okay, I'm getting too sentimental. I'll stop before I start crying lol

Julia and I were talking and thought how cool it'd be to get a turtle. YES A TURTLE they are so cute and little and yes then I found out you have to feed them fish
neeeverrrr minddddd
tortoises can live up to 100 years but they cost like $200. um. noooooo.
Gerbils are basically related to mice. NO.

me: "how much can I buy a whale for and do I need a tank"
hannah: "well it depends on whether or not it's legal to keep a pet whale where you live"
me: "ok. whale is an option.."

do you ever think about how things will be when you "grow up?"
if you could have any pet, what would you get?

  1. Those photos though. <333
And yes, I totally get that, thinking about my older siblings moving away, everything being different...gosh no wonder this post made you cry.
and, um, I don't mean to 'crush your dreams' but I really don't think you can afford to feed a whale...

  3. SARAH. Okay. So where do I start. I related so hard with this post's first topic, however sentimental and rambly you think it may be. I'm a military kid. I've moved so. many. times. I've seen lots of places. I've left lots of friends and homes. I recently moved again. And you know? It's been really hard. Sometimes I just freeze up with the knowledge that some things are just not coming back and some things are just never going to be the same again. It makes me cry and feel a really deep hurt. But it's also taught me to lean on God and push through it - to live in the present moments rather than in the old ones, because that would mean wasting the present moments until they are irretrievable... till I can't get them back. But like you said, God's got this. That's the only thing that's pulled me through, honestly.

Okay, got really rambly there, but oh well. :)

Hahaaa, pet whale. *thinks about the cost* Um, no. xD But if you live in a place where turtles are wild (like I did for a little while!) then you could catch one. I have fond memories of years ago when my sisters and I would trap turtles and keep them as our beloved pets. :') Although we eventually let them go.

    1. awweee, I'm so glad this post helped you! I felt sort of prompted to write it after seeing/hearing three things in the day about the topic so I just went with it. I guess I couldn't totally relate about the moving and such but I DO know God does have it in His hands. It can be really hard--but maybe God is preparing you for something later in your life. I'll be praying for you, girl! <333

yeahhh, they might be kind of expensive. actually I really dont think you *can* buy one. Let alone keep one somewhere. I mean, they are so huge. Like, they are so large I could swim thru their blood vessels. Don't ask--blame it on school work. xD

AWWEEEE. THAT SOUNDS PERFECT. i would love a little turtle still xD

  4. Love your blog, Sarah! I found it recently and I'm really enjoying it :).

I definitely think about how things will be when I'm older - and about how things were years ago :). As for a pet? Either a horse or some kind of big cat. Despite the fact that I'm kind of allergic to them XD.

    1. Thanks so much, Savannah! It's so encouraging to hear you say it :D

I know it--even from a few years ago things have changed. Just a thing that happens I suppose. :) A horse would be reaallly cool. Cats aren't my fav--how about an everlasting kitten? xD awe, that's no fun being allergic to them. what about dogs?? are you allergic to them? I WANT AN EVERLASTING PUPPY. I just now decided. xD

  5. I would get a cat if my dad wasn't allergic, but, since he is, CAN I PLEASE HAVE THE LITTLE GOLDEN DUCKS I SAW AT THE FAIR, like, please?!!!! My sister wants to get a bunny, so we'll have that around, but I want the duck too... haha :).

    1. awweee, ducks are so cute!! We have two and they are just so adorable. Bunnys are really nice too--so sofftt and cuddly. seriously tho, ducks are the cutest. xD

    2. YOU HAVE DUCKS, how did I not know?!?!?! That's awwwwesooooommmmme I still want ducks.
And, by the way, we had turtles. We didn't feed them live fish, we fed them these special pellets. We eventually found out that those pellets held LIVE EGGS, though, because if our turtles left any for too long, THE EGGS IN THE PELLETS WOULD HATCH, and we'd have weird worms floating in the tank *shudders* I had forgotten about that until just now.

  7. YES ON THE GROWING UP THING I CRY THINKING ABOUT IT. Two of my siblings are married and moved out and I am REALLY sentimental lately. :P In fact, some of what you were writing about pausing life and how God's got it is like word for word what I was writing in my journal yesterday. lol It's so true, but it's SO hard! UGH my time is coming very soon though!

AND YES A PET WHALE!! I have wanted a pet turtle, but I don't know if I would still like it after I got it. :p Also, you don't have to feed them fish!! They make turtle food! Our pastor has a turtle and they don't feed it fish! Wouldn't it be cool if you could get a mini whale? Like, a real whale that is about the size of a turtle, but it's a WHALE. DUDE I WOULD GET ONE. xD
