Umm..how did I get into this?

Friday, October 17, 2014

Well, somehow, I embarked on this adventure. It's probably not the kind of adventure you are thinking of at this moment, outdoors, trees, ect. But, it may be an adventure for you crocheted out there, so onto it.

Yup.

I am embarking in the journey of crocheting a sweater... Somehow, I just decided to do it, that's not usually like me, I usually plan.. So anywho, I had some purple yarn, and decided to start!

I just bought two more skeins of yarn yesterday, and today, I finished the back part, now I have the front, and sleeves.

Sorry for the horrible pic, I just thought you would like to see... I have to make another one of these, and two long sleeves. They took me about, one and a half days, (not crocheting the whole time!) I found the pattern in a book, (which name escapes me at the moment...) The purple it lighter, it is really pretty.
I am now working on the second part, the front. It's going pretty good! :)
This is how it should turn out...it is how I'm hoping it will turn out.. ;) I will show it to you when I finish it! (Hopefully with better pictures, it's a gloomy day today..)

                                            Do you like sweaters?
Have you ever made something like this?

Fall Beauty || John 13:34

Saturday, October 11, 2014

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
John 13:34

I meant to only do one photo, but as you see, I got a little carried away... :)

Guest Post -Clara-

Tuesday, October 07, 2014

Hey y'all!

I'm Clara from over at Reasons To Smile! Sarah asked me to do a guest post on her lovely blog, so here I am! Let me introduce myself! I am a Christian teen that has returned into the blogging world. I love to read, play the piano, sing with my amazing brother, photography, writing, blogging, crafting and writing poetry (though it's not good at all! Ha ha!) and listening to audiobooks! I love the smell of dewy grass and wear flowers in my hair on summer days. Some would refer to me as a tom-boy, an 'old-fashioned girl' or a book worm! I am a fan of all old movies like Pride and Prejudice, Little Women, Anne of Green Gables and the series When Calls The Heart and Love Comes Softly!

I am a Christian who strives to please the Lord with my life even though I mess up a lot! I believe God has put us here on earth for a purpose and our goal is to complete His will for our lives! I have so many favorite Bible verses but my current favorite is Psalms 37:5 "Commit they way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." I think this means to believe and wholly lean on him through trials and good times, he will take care of you! To me that is a comforting thought.

I LOVE books! On my blog I will hopefully be starting some book reviews and more fun and random posts! I am actually a very emotional reader! Lots of people find this funny! I find books about WW2 and some dramatic periods in history very interesting. Most of the books end sad :( And that makes me cry for some reason! And if the book is to overly happy I cry! Its just a quirky thing about me I guess!

Well, I hope you enjoyed my ongoing ramblings about myself! And please stop over to my blog and shot me a comment! I would love to get to know you better! Thank you again, Sarah for having me!
In Christ Alone,
~Clara~

I forgot...

Saturday, October 04, 2014

Ugh, I completely forgot it was Saturday.... Time just gets away from me. Today, I have been working on some big home projects, getting ready for fall/winter,
and just living! (everybody's gotta do that! ;) )

'You are the light of the world. A city that is set up a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.'
 Matthew 5:14-16.

Buttermilk Biscuits

Wednesday, October 01, 2014

At the request of one of my readers, (Jessica) here is the recipe for the buscuits that I posted earlier.

2 C. Flour
3 tsp. Baking powder
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Baking soda
4 T. Shortening
1 C. Buttermilk
(If you don't have buttermilk, you can do 1 C. Milk, and half a tablespoon of vinegar, and let it sit for 3 minutes or so. You can even do it half water, and half milk. Just double that for a double batch.)

Mix all ingredients, then add buttermilk while stirring. Make sure it's not too sticky, you may need to add a little more flour. Spread flour on the counter and knead the dough a few times and press it down with your hands, make them pretty thick, about 1 1/2 inches or so, just make sure you have one pan full. Cut them in circles, and place them in a greased baking pan.

Bake at 425 degrees for 10-15 minutes, until golden.

*Hint*
Want fluffy, golden, biscuits???
When adding the flour, put it in a sifter with the baking powder, and baking soda, and sift away! It makes them really fluffy.

I just made another batch today! ;) When I make them, I double the batch, I get two 8x8 round pans full. You could also do a 9x13 pan, or two 8x8 pans, whatever you have on hand. One batch makes one 8x8 pan.

I just made these above today, the first picture is from another batch.

UPDATE!!!
The photography contest ends on the 3rd!!!!! Please enter if you haven't already!!! :D
