Shadowy Sunset

Monday, January 26, 2015

I did a test video the other day to see how well I could do it, and so...I did another one today after I went sledding a little bit. I froze my fingers off for you, so you'd better like it! ;) JK!

I took these yesterday, the sunset was gorgeous. It was stunning! I ran out with just my coat and about froze. I was able to snap a few shots before my hands became numb though! :D I could get so close to the moon with zoom on my camera...that I couldn't believe it. Of course it took a few tries to get it in focus, so it wouldn't end up looking like a large jelly bean. ;) Enjoy!

Have you ever made a video?
Do you like watching the sunset?

Discoveries from 1925

Friday, January 23, 2015

I found this dictionary from our library on the free shelf while looking for a music look that I could rip up to make into paper beads. (I'll probably post something about that later) Isn't the dictionary the neatest thing?! It's from 1925!!! Like where my story is based! I am so going to use this for my writing. :D

Yum. My sister and I made those chocolate truffles, They are cookie dough filled! They are seriously addicting. :D We put sea salt on top. The candy coating was really great on it!

I have been listening to the bible cds from Your Story Hour. They are awesome! I have been listening about David. The voices are just so mesmerizing. I love listening to thing while crocheting or making beads. :D

                                                            Do you like old dictionaries?
Have you ever made chocolate truffles?
Have you ever listened to "Bible Comes Alive"?

Interview with Hannah

Tuesday, January 20, 2015

Hello all! Hannah from Tomboy in a Tiered Skirt, did an interview with me a little while ago, and here she is to do one for me! :D

Hi! I'm Hannah! I blog over at Tomboy in a Tiered skirt! Thanks for interviewing me Sarah! This is going to be fun!
Do you make lists? If so, do you doodle on them?
I don't make lists very often, but when I do, I do doodle on them!
When was the last time you smiled and why?
I smiled just a minute ago because my cat was stalking me while I was trying to type.
Do you like chocolate covered peanuts?
What do you enjoy taking photos of the most and why?
Hmm..thats  hard....definatly nature...and....I dunno what else.

What was the first letter of the first word and what was the last letter in the your last word that you last spoke? (wow..that was confusing..)
Uh...could you repeat that? Let me see, The first letter of the first word I last spoke....'O' and the last letter of the last word I spoke was...'K'...

What do you hope to do with your blog in the near future?
I hope to get more followers, and maybe create my own tag or award?
Are your nails painted at this moment?
My toenails, but not my fingernails.
Would you rather have your hair down, or up?
Would you rather wear jeans or a skirt?
It depends, I like to wear jeans when I'm doing stuff outside, or things that you can't do in a skirt, and I like to wear skirts on different ocassions. ;)
Why do you like writing?
When I write I can create my own little world where anything I want can happen! someone can turn into a dog, someone finds a portal to another world, someone's brother is half evil, I can have as much action, as much adventure. excitement, and creativity as I want! :D
What do you like doing in your "spare" time?
Taking pictures, writing, talking to my friends, being creative, reading, and hanging out with my family and friends!
What is your all time, EVER, favorite book?
The Bible. And....I'm not really sure...

Have you ever had Hershey creamer in hot cocoa? (If you haven't..get some!)
I haven't...but that sounds amazing.

What have you always been interested in?
I've always been interested in making and creating things, anything where I can be creative and use my imagination really, :D
Would you rather write on a neat old, leather journal with a feathered pen and ink, or a computer?
Woah, thats hard...hmm....If I want to write a whole lot at once and fast, I'd go for a computer, but if not, maybe a leather journal...
Awesome questions Sarah! And thanks again for interviewing me! It was a lot of fun. :)

Thanks for doing this, Hannah! :D Be sure to check out her awesome blog

My novella preview

Friday, January 9, 2015

I've been carrying my camera around with me lately, taking a picture here are there so sit back and enjoy!
So, last night I was catching up on some writing and I sat on my bed with my AlphaSmart. I got my AlphaSmart for Christmas to help me with my writing, it's just like typing on a document, only no internet, which means no distractions! Then you just plug it into the computer and it types out all your words. It's really awesome, so anyways I was using my AlphaSmart and catching up on what I wrote, jotting down quite a few great ideas that I thought of.

Here is the beginning/preview to my story so far, (please be kind and do not steal):
Jess ran out of the house, with the letter still in her hands that clenched it as if she would never let it go. Never.

Jess cried. Unable to bear it. She couldn’t seem to hold it in any longer.
“How could they have done this to me?! How could they have lied to my whole life?” She cried out miserably.
It had only been the day before that she had been sitting on that hill enjoying the glorious view, only now the hill seemed to have lost it’s glory. Jess stared again at the letter in her hand. She couldn't believe it, but she had to.
Jess is living a completely normal life; when her parents tell her something that will change her life. She travels through troubles, happiness, and sorrow to find who she truly is inside.
So, I have quite a bit written and finally found a good story line, my mind buzzes with ideas all the time, last night while in bed I had to get out and scribble out an idea I had on my notebook. I'm really excited about that one. So, for now I am calling it, 'The Adventure Begins,' but I'm pretty sure I'm going to change that and I have some new ideas for that. My story takes place in 1920-1930, and it about the Irish immigrants, with my own twist in it. The first girl above, is Jess. My character, the second girl is Calle, which is Jess' close friend and companion during everything. It's really neat, because I made their characters before and found those pictures on the internet and they were exactly what I was picturing!

I've really been enjoying my camera, and you will usually see me around with it around my neck. ;)

What do you think of my novella preview?
Would you read it? Does it get your attention?
                                                                                                         Do you like embroidery?

My Fujifilm s8630

Wednesday, January 7, 2015

Okay, for about a month now I have been on the search for the prefect camera. Not perfect maybe, but..better. I found it. It took 5 days to get here, which seemed very long..and today I have been playing around with it. Let's just say,

It has so many neat settings, that are just so fun to play around with.
It has a CRAZY zoom, 36x. The macro is just, ahhh. But why am I telling you? Here are some photos so you can see for yourself.

These are all unedited, except for settings. :)

Okay, first I bought a camera that was used, but then I got refunded and after contacting the seller, it took like two weeks to get my money back. After that, I decided I didn't want to buy another used one. So, I started looking around some more. I found one that was on sale on Walmart that came with a case, it just looked nice, I decided I would return it if I wasn't happy with it. I don't think I'm going to do that anymore though. :)

I can't wait to play around with it some more. Though, it's a little cold outside, or freezing. It was in the NEGATIVES the other day! I only lasted like 10 minutes outside today, I couldn't get very good focus because the wind was blowing like crazy.

There are some really neat settings, like where you can make everything black and white, except for one color which makes it look really neat. It's a nice size as well and it takes photos very quickly, I am still learning how to use it, there are so many things to do.

My Mom got me a photography book from the library, the other day and it looks really neat. I have been getting a lot of good advice from that.

I am very amazed at how fast it takes pictures, with my old camera it takes so long and it was usually blurry. Some of my favorite settings are where light turns into stars (like the Christmas lights above), and where you can only see one color. I love the picture of my Bible and how it turned out.

So, I'm off to take some more pictures!

Do any of you know how to make/download videos?
                                                                                              Do you have a camera?
                                                                                                               If so, what kind?
