MY FAV BIBLE VERSES + in awe of God

Saturday, February 24, 2018

when I was younger, I had a favorite bible verse, but now, I honestly don't know if I could choose one. as I continue to read there are SO many that just put me in such awe of God and His power and love.

and as I've been reading my bible more, I'm realizing how sometimes we have to focus more on parts in the bible that aren't very pleasing. God says there will be struggles. God says we will be persecuted for His name. There will be pain, and temptations, and darkness. But He will be with us, and in the end, His light will blow away all the darkness.

idk if all that makes sense or not, here are are some verses that have meant loads to me lately <33
HE CALMS THE STORM, SO THAT ITS WAVES ARE STILL [psalm 107:29]

He commands the sun, and it does not rise; He seals off the stars; He alone spreads out the heavens, and treads on the waves of the sea [job 9:7&8]

I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever. nothing can be added to it, and nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before him [ecclesiastes 3:14]
also i heard the voice of the Lord, saying: "whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" then i said, "Here I am! Send me" [isaiah 6:8]

when you pass through the waters I will be with you; and through the rivers , they shall not overflow you. when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you [isaiah 43:2]

...HE UTTERED HIS VOICE, THE EARTH MELTED... [psalm 46:6]

for I know that my redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth [job 19:26]
He will have compassion on us, and will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea [micah 2:19]

...DO NOT FRET BECAUSE OF EVILDOERS... [proverbs 24:19]

do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when i fall, i will rise; when i sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me [micah 7:8]
test all things; hold fast to what is good. abstain from every form of evil [thessalonians 5:21&22]

He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces [isaiah 25:8]

...the Lord is near to those who have a broken heart... [psalm 34:18]

for you have been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat; for the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall [isaiah 25:4]
then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and He will say 'Here I am' [isaiah 58:9]

in God I have put my trust, I will not be afraid. what can man do to me? [psalm 56:11]

FOR THIS IS OUR GOD, OUR GOD FOREVER AND EVER; HE WILL BE OUR GUIDE EVEN UNTO DEATH [psalm 139:10]
I've also been thinking about God's power lately. guys. we are so tiny, and so insignificant. we are so undeserving and so unworthy. so when you read these verses and your bible, think of that. In all His power, God still loves and cares about us, individually and uniquely. it just makes my jaw drop just to think about it ngl

DON'T JUST REST [EMPOWER + RE-ENERGIZE]

Saturday, February 17, 2018

I think when everyone says "you need to take a break" we often nod and agree and maybe you /do/ take a break. but..often times those breaks aren't very restful and can actually become stress-filled because you feel like you aren't accomplishing anything.

however I was watching a video the other day and the whole "resting" thing was put to a whole new perspective to me. the guy was saying how we need to take rests to be re-energized. but not the "get more sleep" kind of resting often think of. being re-energized and re-empowered also happens by doing the things we enjoy! now, some things I may enjoy (such as writing, reading, arting, baking) may be empowering to me, but may be stressful for you.

recharging can come in many different forms: reading, crafts, quiet, fun, events, baking -- it's different for everyone. sometimes we may think we just need to take a nap or read or just slow down
but sometimes I think we need to take the time to do the things we like doing. but that brings me to my second point of this post

the question in the video was this: "what is your prime time"? basically what time of the day is the most productive for you? early mornings, afternoons, or late at night? then he said this: "if you want your best work, you have to set aside your best time"

and that sort of hit me. so often we push back that because we have things that need to be done, and it's often true. they DO need to be done. but, if you even set aside 20 minutes a day, by the end of the year you'll have 120 hours to work on what you love to do, whatever that may be. it doesn't have to be the same thing. and it doesn't have to be every day. it could be one set aside day a week (also something to look forward to, and plan ahead for so you can get your things done prior)

now I will say that hobbies aren't always the most important, but setting aside 20 minutes a day IS possible. We may not be able to get more time in our day, but we can inject more energy and accomplish more in the time we DO have time isn't just time. it CAN be moments. but that's up to us
