living in the moment

sometimes plans don't mix too well with reality. I'm sure a lot of us have made plans or goals at the beginning of this year - or even this summer. and honestly, how have those goals or "bucket lists" been going?

tbh, I've never been one for making resolutions. I normally will make a couple goals tho. But even with that...I kinda decided to go with the flow this year. and I realized I'm enjoying it. with joining summer reading, working at a local CSA, painting for 1720871237812 hours, going to parks, doing lots of swimming, reading. so yes, it's been busy. and I have been forcing myself not to let the stress get the better of me.

when I was working the other morning, it was just kinda quiet and I was realizing how much I was just enjoying life. this has something I've been praying for God to help me to learn to do - praying that He would help me to slow down and take in the moments He has gifted me with.

I am freaking out a bit about nano coming soon, but you know what, it's only nano. It's not the end of the world if I don't finish my novel next month - even though I do want to. sometimes goals and resolutions can be good - but other times they can actually hold us back. so live a little and just enjoy the moments God has given you! they are gifts, and not promised to us

  1. AHHHH THOSE PICTURES. *all the heart eyes*

Okay, but this post was FABULOUS. YES. I have the tendency to stress over every. single. thing. Not even joking. It's summer break, but I've been CRAZY BUSY and keep kicking myself for not getting "everything done." But it's okay to not accomplish all my goals. Like you said, they can sometimes be more detrimental than helpful...which basically defeats the purpose of having goals in the first place. :P

ANYWAY. This post was great--and don't stress about NaNo. (Easier said than done, right?!) You can do a smaller goal/skip it/whatever. You're still awesome regardless. ;)

(P.S. NOPE I'M TOTALLY NOT DROWNING IN BOOKS TO BE READ DON'T LOOK AT ME. *coughs*)

  4. Oh my goodness! You photos make me want to live on a farm way out in the country. But no, I'm content being a city girl. Read those books, girl! I believe in you. After you finish one give yourself a day or so to recover before you go on to another. I can't remember what book had the dragon and which had the wizard if I don't give myself a little break.

  10. You take such pretty pictures!!!

I'm more of a go with the flow person too - I tend to get overly stressed if I try to make a lot of goals/resolutions that aren't 100% necessary, and I tend to forget to enjoy the things I ACTUALLY ENJOY. Aka life. So yeah, I definitely prefer just living in the moment and seeing beauty in the everyday things, like sleeping in and new books😂

    Great post!

    1. eep, thanks, Abi! ah yes, if I make goals they have to be achievable in a pushing myself kinda way. just not too hard, if that makes sense. XD agreed with the sleeping in and new books (although being up early is refreshing...just not the...getting up early part hahaha xD)

  11. I'm TRYING to work on my summer goals, but they're not coming very well. I'm kind of being forced to go with the flow at the moment though. I have around 22 books to read this summer so far. So, not as much as you, but still a lot. XD

    1. ahh, they can be pretty hard - but don't let the stress get the better of you! hahaa. gosh girl, I've got just 35+ books before the library wants them back in 3 weeks. #whoops. 100 is my goal for the year so we'll see what happens haha XD

  12. Ooh, pretty garden!

That's a really good point about living in the moment. It seems like in this "faster faster faster get everything done them more!" culture people loose sight of that.

I have a couple things going on in the summer that are planned, but even with just two of them taking up a grand total of three weeks, I feel like the summer's packed to the brim and there's no time to breath at all. It's weird. So yeah, besides "make it onto the airplane on time" there aren't many summer goals. :P

    1. oh, totally. it's crazy how it is nowadays...kinda sad how much people can miss in life in the rush of things. oohh, are you going on a trip?? so cool!! haha. it is funny. I feel the same - like I don't have a ton of goals, but life is still packed to the brim with busy stuff. but I still love it xD

  13. I am the worst at keeping up with goals and resolutions. It's definitely a struggle. But it is important to look beyond your goals and just soak up life in the moment.
Great post and AMAZING pictures! :)
Also I can relate to the giant TBR. It never ends!

    1. hahaha, it can be hard. xP totally! goals aren't everything. they can be nice, but sometimes they don't work for certain people and their personalities, or sometimes it does. whatever works haha. XD

eeepp. thanks!! ikr - and it's even more dangerous when that TBR is library stuff that have due dates lol XD
