one of my personal new years resolutions was "be brave. be bold."
being bold, and taking risks has always been hard for me. a couple years ago, I struggled to say something that might come off as different. even if it was the truth, it was still hard
I've retaken the personality test recently and I'm now half introverted and half extroverted. and I've realized, yeah. it has been easier to speak up when I feel something isn't right, say what I want to say (not blatatly hurting peoples feelings tho). and it's easier to speak my feelings..and..be bold. yes, its still a struggle. its hard to step out. sometimes I just want to crawl back into my shell and be like NOPE THX ANYWAYS and you know what? and thats a-okay
but it can't always be that way. Jesus calls us to stand for Him. now, that doesn't mean we have to go around everywhere shouting and shoving it in peoples faces...it can be an act, too.
what being bold means to me:
- laughing in public with your sisters and seeing who can find the ugliest piece of clothing and not caring what others think
- asking someone if they were in line and if they'd want to go first
- including people (at events, in your friend groups, etc.)
- doing what you think you cant
- listening to that prompting from Jesus
- being willing to say you don't agree, and why, but saying it calmly and not shoving it at people
- not always following the crowds
- making random conversations and laughing with people you don't even know when they see you and your sisters having a blast
- grinning back when people look at you with that "you are so weird" look
- doing what you don't feel like doing
- speaking up for someone
- sitting next to someone you don't know
- being confident in what you believe, knowing why you believe, so when asked you can speak clearly your believe
- crying in front of people
- saying "no" when you know you should, even if its abnormal
- being the first to say "hi"
- smiling first
being brave is going against your automatic response. so, BE BOLD, bc you don't always know the impact you are making
these are just some my own random thoughts and resolution..its something i'm working on. lets be brave bc He loves us. lets be bold, bc with Jesus, we have nothing to fear
LOVE this! God has really been teaching me about being bold and I appreciated seeing your thoughts. <3
ReplyDelete<33 I know what you mean!! I think sometimes being bold can be looked at as a bad thing, but I guess it depends on the motives?? there are many ways to interpret all things, so XD thx, girl! <3
DeleteYES YES. I'm slightly more on the "introverted side" of things, so speaking out is hard. Resisting the urge to tell my siblings "stop it we're in public!" is harder.
ReplyDeleteI love, love your list of bold actions to take. Boldness is even in the little things - like sitting next to someone and saying hi, welcome, how are you. *nods*
thank you, thank you for this.
k
LOL right, I know what you mean haha XD
Deleteawww, thank you!! and I agree. being bold like that also shows others that you care, and that they are worth the hello. who knows the difference that could make to someone
thank you so much for commenting, Keira <33
LOVE THIS POST AND THESE PICTURES AND YOU.
ReplyDeleteI guess I would say that to me, being bold means speaking up when I feel like being quiet, being open when I feel like being closed-off, and doing things without feeling like they need to be validated by someone else. It's crazy when you realize how much courage and boldness the smallest things can take sometimes, but those things can add up to the bigger things too.
'let's be bold, bc with Jesus, we have nothing to fear' ♥
AWW SO SAME GIRL <33
Deleteohhh such truth yes. so many times I just DON'T want to be the first to speak or whatever. it's not easy, for sure. and its okay to be "weird" if that means you are showing someone else you care..or just even being yourself. we don't have to make ourselves fit into the molds others (and ourselves), have created. and its really true...it all adds up <3
Ah being bold... yes that is something I struggle with as well. Being a pretty shy introvert is something that definitely makes it harder to speak up bc you don't want to offend anyone, say something wrong, etc. Thank you for sharing my friend! <3
ReplyDeleteah yes I know. its def a tough thing, but..tough things are necessary sometimes. and its not like its a sudden change - its not always easy - its taking small steps of boldness that can result in other great things. who knows haha..all we can do is do our part and leave the rest to God <33
DeleteWow. This post is SO INSPIRING. Thank you. <3
ReplyDeleteTo me, being bold has always meant obeying God when He leads me to step out of my comfort zone. But everything in your list above would fall under bold for me too. For sure. xD
Awesome post!
EEP. THX GIRL <33
Deletemmhm *nods* He does lead us out of our comfort zones..usually in small steps, but that all adds up. haha i know what you mean, those things really aren't always easy..but it does get easier and its all ok. its ok when you aren't always bold, but its good when you can be, and from there push yourself to go further than you ever thought you could do...and likely can do. thx, Lila! <3
Bold is stepping out of my comfort zone and speaking up for what I believe in.
ReplyDeleteBold is standing up to the co-worker who's bullying me and not letting her knock me down. (Theoretically. She hasn't physically done that, lol.)
Bold is being comfortable with Jesus.
Amazing post. <3
TRUTH. being bold IS stepping out of our comfort zones for sure
Deleteaww, sorry you are having that! something to try: beat back her bullying with kindness. I mean, don't let her trample you but little acts of kindness can only be fought back for so long...not that being kind to someone who isn't is easy, but I suppose that's why we have to do it.. anyways, I'll be praying! <3
thx, girl!
this is definitely inspiring <3 i'm learning, slowly, how to become a more confident person in general. it's crazy to see how the things we go through in life shape us and then we're at a place where we can look back and say, "hey, i'm a lot more braver than i was back then." CRAZY FEELING.
ReplyDeleteI loved the list you made! definitely challenged me too.
eeep, thx, Autumn! I know what you mean. it's tough to be confident..especially since I'm a perfectionist haha. and it is a process, but that's okay. processes have results.
DeleteSAME SO SAME. I know that feeling so well. I look back at myself even from last year and go "wow. the me then could not be doing what the me is doing now" but I guess that's why God brings "hard" things to us..so we can be prepared to do great things. we can't just jump from something to another..it has to be a journey.
aw great!! I love it when that happens..it challenged me too, in a way haha <3
This is so good. To be honest, being brave is something I've thought about a lot - it was my word for 2016. And that was a good year: I felt more confident, and intentionally stepped outside my comfort zone a lot more. But since then I feel like I've lost that, and spend much more time back in my shell saying nope, as you said, haha. Anyway, thanks for this post. It's good to be thinking about this again, and your list of what being bold means was great. All the best with your quest to be bold and brave - with Him everything's possible! xx
ReplyDeletethank you, Jessica! ohh I know what you mean with that. I have had that with things before..when you feel like you are almost getting worse? don't let that lie win, tho! just take that as a prompt to work even harder. improvement doesn't happen overnight - nothing like this does, good or bad. but know that it is okay to say nope sometimes...just keep going for it. God brings certain things to us at certain times for specific reasons. Maybe He has something else for you for rn, idk but He knows.
Deletethank you girl!! you all are so encouraging its so lovely <33
Ah, I loved this! YES TO BEING BOLD!!! That is definitely something I can relate to. One of my resolutions for the past couple years has been to stay fearless, because of God. Being fearless and being bold aren't identical but they are similar. All those things you listed are definitely things I either (1 do, or (2 aim to do/am working on. ;) Thanks for the encouraging post!
ReplyDeleteaww so glad!! ooh yes. that word "stay" is important too. its the journey, and the KEEP GOING of the journey, too. so glad you enjoyed it!!
DeleteI love this!!! That list was so fun (???? if that's even the right word) to read.
ReplyDeletelol don't even worry about it -- sometimes the brain just doesn't give the words, I know xP XD
DeleteI'm so glad you wrote about this. One needs to hear things like this to realize what they can improve on or just LEARN! Bold to me is all about doing things without hesitation. It can be rough. BUT WE GOT THIS.
ReplyDeletethank you!! truth. I think at first we feel that hesitation greatly, but that hesitation gradually becomes less and less. WE TOTALLY DO <3
DeleteLOVED THIS. I am not that bold at all when it comes to disagreeing with people and I really really need to work on it!! I feel like a lot of times I don't want to say my own opinion or don't even know it because I don't want there to a chance someone will get mad at me for it.
ReplyDeleteNabila | Hot Town Cool Girl
mhm, I know how that is. and I also think being bold is NOT disagreeing with people sometimes..keeping silent when you need to. you don't have to agree or partake, and you can speak up, but sometimes silence is good. its a balance, you know? and its true, you don't have to make people mad. Don't let them trample on you, but if you really don't think it'll do anything to them except to make them mad, then maybe its okay to be quiet. you'll know tho <3
